Kirschner Lab Protein Dynamics Research

Research Highlights

This group, the newest in the Kirschner lab, focuses on using the techniques of quantitative Mass Spectrometry (MS) to investigate biological questions. Using the SILAC method and derivatives thereof, we hope to accurately quantify protein levels in a number of cell types and cell conditions.

Mass Spectrometry could be used to track the levels of proteins in Xenopus development. It is also being used to quantify protein levels in sychronized and asynchronous populations of mammalian cells. Finally, it is also being used to study protein level fluctuation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
