Research Highlights
This research group focuses mainly on the regulation and functions of the cytoskeleton, especially actin. The cytoskeleton is important for cell morphology, cell motility, and transport within the cell. Key regulators of actin polymerization include members of the WASP, N-WASP, and WAVE family. Work is ongoing to study the biochemistry of the WAVE complex.
Further research using a variety of microscopic techniques is shedding light on the regulation of signaling networks responsible for the organization of actin filaments into large-scale structures.
Other work being done by this group includes investigations into the Wnt signaling pathway, focusing on its regulation and its role in the stabilization of beta-catenin.
