Leon Peshkin is a senior research scientist with the Department of Systems Biology at HMS. Leon earned his Masters in Applied Math from the Weizmann Institute of Science and his PhD in Computer Science from Brown University in 2002. Previously, Dr. Peshkin was a visiting researcher at Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and post-doctoral fellow at Harvard Faculty of Applied Sciences.

Research Summary

My prior research is in the areas of Machine Learning and Computational Linguistics. I believe that the discipline of Machine Learning is the key resource for Systems Biology in providing ways to build structured probabilistic models of complex biological phenomena. My current projects include building syntactically sophisticated engines for mining biological literature, analysis of hierarchy in biological networks and semi-supervised learning for biological data collection and analysis.
